Meet Dr. Toolson
Dr. Toolson is a native San Diegan who has enjoyed living and working in Encinitas since 1990. He and his wife Janette are blessed to be the parents of six wonderful children. When he is not in the office he enjoys spending time with his family, water skiing, snow skiing, cycling and playing tennis.
Dr. Toolson attended Brigham Young University where he studied and prepared for dental school. He attended Loyola University School of Dentistry, the same dental school where both his father and grandfather received their DDS degrees. Dr. Toolson graduated at the top of his class with honors from Loyola University and then began his orthodontic residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. The orthodontic program at the University of Illinois was the first university affiliated orthodontic program where many of the pioneers of modern orthodontics were trained. At the University of Illinois Dr. Toolson completed an original research project on a Temporomandibular Joint related subject for which he earned a Masters of Science Degree in Orthodontics.
Dr. Toolson is often asked, “Would you do it all over again?” In other words, would he go through all the years of school, exams, expenses, etc in order to become an orthodontist? The answer is, YES! He loves what he does and feels very fortunate to work with so many wonderful people to help create beautiful smiles.

Hello, I am the treatment coordinator at Toolson Orthodontics. I have worked with Dr. Toolson for over 8 years. I help all clients with insurance and financial information. I love working with families and helping patients feel comfortable in our office. Dr. Toolson is an excellent orthodontist and treats our patients with the greatest care.When I am not at the office I am spending time with my two daughters.

Hi, my name is Madison! I am the sterilization technician here at Toolson Orthodontics. I am originally from Michigan and have been living in California for over a year now, working in the orthodontic field. I enjoy going to the beach with my husband and playing with our dog Leo in my free time.
